We are increasingly being asked if we have a solution that will eliminate the need to weed pots and make it easier for nurserymen to combat this problem. The ideal duo is Santop mulch and an automatic potting machine with a water station.
What is the process based on? The idea is based on covering the top surface of the substrate in the pot with loose material. By covering the top layer of the substrate with San Top mulch ? It provides a mechanical barrier that is difficult for weak weed sprouts to overcome ? light access to its surface is cut off. If weed seeds germinate below the surface of the mulch, without access to light, they will usually be too weak to break through to the surface and begin proper growth. The mulching process begins at the planting stage.
The first item is a potter, which makes it easier to properly fill the pots and level the surface of the substrate, then properly plant the plants. After planting, the pots are transported by conveyor belt to an automatic machine that transfers the pots and sprinkles them with mulch taken from a hopper.
Then, after sprinkling and leveling the surface, the pots are transported by another conveyor belt through an irrigation station. Watered pots are ready for further transportation to the final production site, and such preparation protects against weed growth.
